Dr. Goodman
provides a unique service in the healing
arts, referred to as Specific Upper Cervical Spine
adjustment. We focus exclusively on balancing the head
on the neck, taking the pressure off the brain stem at
the base of the brain.
The upper cervical spine consists of
the head, weighing 7-12 pounds, and the first two
vertebrae under it - the Atlas and the Axis. Even a
slight misalignment has been found to interfere with the
normal functioning of the nervous system. The brain
stem, located at the base of the brain, connects the
brain and the spinal cord. It controls the many vital
functions of the body, including heart rate, breathing,
eating, sleeping, and all muscle tone. Brain stem
interference can be the cause of many different
symptoms.
When the upper cervical vertebrae are out
of alignment, one side of the body becomes tighter or
more contracted and the other side stretches in an
attempt to compensate and restore balance. This may
result in weakness, tension, or pain in the head, neck,
shoulder, arm, low back, hip, knee, ankle, or foot - No
area of the body is immune to the negative effects of
misalignment.
Recognized
as being very skilled his field,
Dr. Steven Goodman trained with Dr. Ralph R. Gregory,
founder of National Upper Cervical Research Foundation (NUCCA).
During Dr. Goodman's 35 years of practice, he has
expanded his methods with great results and has helped
people who have traveled to him from over 15 states to
alleviate the cause of their pain. Recently their son
John graduated and took over his practice in Lancaster,
Pa. and he and his wife Elaine relocated to South
Carolina to enjoy their semi-retirement. In December of
2009, the couple opened their Myrtle Beach office and
has been introducing locals and visitors to this
exciting work.
Whether the cause of a patients’
distress has been from recent acute trauma or from a
long-standing condition, often Dr. Goodman’s methods
have achieved relief in a single treatment. Your good
